It can be a bit like winning a prize – you get to experience three distinctly different types of travel, see a variety of sights, learn some history, marvel at the area’s natural beauty, and stand in awe of two amazing engineering accomplishments – one almost 80 years old, and one still almost new. The West Rim Grand Canyon Tour with Helicopter and Boat includes a modern motor coach ride from your Las Vegas hotel and back. But, the highlights of the trip are sure to be the exhilarating helicopter ride to and from the canyon floor and a lazy pontoon boat float trip along a section of smooth Colorado River water with the canyon walls rising around you on either side.
Your driver-guide will inform you about the sights and history along the way as you travel through desert and spiky Joshua Tree forest at the entrance to Grand Canyon West and your destination Native American Tribal Park. It offers live Indian dances and cultural presentations, mock gunfights, historical exhibits and replica Indian dwellings as well as a market area. As you descend to the canyon floor in your powerful helicopter, you cannot help but think about early explorers of this natural wonder, and the ancient inhabitants of the land. You will spend a total of about 4 hours, both on the rim and the floor; with time for lunch at your choice of location: the Skywalk Café, the Cowboy Ranch or the Guano Point BBQ. The price of lunch is, of course, included, as are all transfers and admission fees.
A bonus during the trip is the photo stop at Hoover Dam, where you will see the historic Art Deco construction from the vantage point of the newly completed highway bridge over the river. It allows for impressive shots of the entire area.
